Part of the 3YØI Rebel Team worked several hours constructing/deconstructing our main tent set up on November 24. This specific Spherical dome is 6 meters wide by 3.6 meters tall. We had a nice warm day to get familiar with the construction of these tents. In low temperature and high wind conditions we calculate it will take 4 to 5 hours to set up one tent on the glacier. Total weight of this tent is 550kg (+1,200 lbs) including the 16 ice mounting plates and 32 ice mounting docking screws (1 meter each).
We also had a nice time late afternoon as some of the local South African Hams came again to meet us – this time bringing our 3YØI Africa Pilot Andre, and V51B from Namibia.
